Privy Council

The smaller council that could provide advise to the monarch at all times. The idea was revived by Cromwell in the 1530s, although Henry VII had worked to reduced the size of the royal council in his reign as well (but it was not formalized, as it was under Henry VIII). The size of the council fluctuated during the reigns of the rest of the Tudors.
