Corpus Christi

Latin meaning 'body of Christ'. Name of an important religious festival on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday (in June) honouring the Eucharist. It assumed a prominent part in the culture of sixteenth-century towns prior to the Reformation. Frequently the occasion of a fair.
