Picture of the Week #17

Leeds Castle. May 2003

If ever there was a place I need to go back and visit on a nicer day, it’s Leeds Castle! It’s such a beautiful castle and setting, it’s really a shame it was such so damp and dreary when we were there. Still, a lovely place to visit!

For me, Leeds on the outside is outstanding. The setting just can’t be perfected. However, I found the inside too modern…too much drywall. The modernization can be understood- no sense in letting a perfectly good castle not be lived/worked in comfortably. It was still a shock, however. I definitely had another vision in mind.

Your weather while there was the same as mine, Lara…and you visited Leeds two years after I did…in the same month, too! Still…it was English damp and dreariness :)

It was really a shame since I’ve had lots of days with good weather there in May, but that particular one just stank. Oh well, a good excuse to go back!
